Birds without wings

I'm reading a book called Birds without wings by  Louis de Bernieres and I haven't got very far yet but I must say I found this part funny:

Veled gives a cigarette to his camel and explains:
"It's from always walking behind me. He got used to the smoke from my cigarettes, and then he got to like it, and now he won't do anything until I let him have a smoke first."

lol..!!

Anyway, I'll go back to reading now ^___^

Nanananaaaa

There are so many clocks in this house..!! So hard to concentrate.
Pff I feel like a geek.. It's so annoying when you're waiting for someone to answer so you keep checking your phone/facebook.. anything.. and every time you look there's nothing, but when they finally answer, you're so happy and so you answer straight away.. x)

I think I'll go get my book..

Interpreting and translating

I've been talking to my grandma about interpreting or translating and she said that simultaneous interpreting is a very stressful career because you have to listen to what someone is saying, understand it thoroughly and formulate that in the 2nd language while saying what the person had said 5-10 seconds previously!!

Translating would be with written material, so less stress but you'd have to have a broad knowledge of both cultures.

I don't know if I would be able to do either to be honest, but I feel like I should try!

Who knows.. by the time I can even think about getting a job, they might have amazing machines everywhere that translate simultaneously... or robots.
Imagine if we just had robots and machines for everything! No more jobs for the humans.. apart from the people who invent/make/repair the robots I guess O_o

I could just busk in the streets, and use my languages for songwriting :P

Mleh? Helm?

My friend wrote a story for me yesterday. An awesome story about a unicorn, and I'd like to illustrate it!
That would be epic.
I just have to do it. But I probably won't, coz I'm that kind of person.

Listening to this mix atm http://8tracks.com/mainhannah/favourite-worship-music
Meri sent it to me, it's cool :)

Mleh.. I'm in a weird mood today .__.  I want to read my book, to draw, to do more Spanish and many other things. I just haven't done them! Apart from the Spanish that is :P

I've still got sand in my shoes~ (Dido)

Hmmm humm hummm.... me  aburro? mleh ._.

Letter in Spanish

Right. So yesterday I wrote a letter in Spanish to work on making sentences and stuff.
And here it is, it's very  random but yeh :P

Querida Barbara,

Recientemente he comenzado a hacer camping. Si quieres, vamos hacer camping juntas. Podriamos hacer mucho juntas. Me alegro de verte.

Un abrazo

Naomi

Obviously there are many mistakes seeing as I'm not very good at Spanish.. and I can't use the Spanish accents or anything but yeh :)
Hopefully when I look back at this post in a year or so I'll be able to say "Ahaha I used to be so rubbish a Spanish compared to now!"

My grandma told me that the average person has a limit to how many languages they can know. And it's around 6!

It would be cool to be able to speak 6 languages... But I'd like to speak more than that!
English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Poruguese, Italian, Chinese and Korean (that's what I have in mind anyway.. who knows, I might decide to learn arabic or something :P )

Thoughts

I don't really know why I write so much these days, it must be to free me from my boredom or something. As if I didn't have more important things to do!! I really need to do some more Spanish, and I can't really say I can't work because of my cold.. Because that's not a good excuse, even if I do have one.

Anyway.

I met up with my sister Phili last night which was amazing!! It was so nice being just the 2 of us so we could talk as much as we wanted.
So we talked about what's been happening in our lives the past year.. (It feels so weird to not see my siblings all the time and yet so normal coz I'm used to it... Hopefully we'll all meet up this summer, I couldn't last year coz I was in Japan!)
And so we were talking and we got onto the subject of jobs. I still don't really know what I want to do or even can do, but I'm thinking something to do with languages.
There are loads of things I could do I just don't know about them so it would be cool to go to a university and see what courses they have :)

At one point I was thinking I could go to Africa or China or something and teach English (Or French or something..) aswell as telling them about the gospel and so I'd have to do a course on theology too...but I don't think I really want to be a teacher!!

I might change my mind at some point I guess, we'll see.

Another thing I could do is translate. I always thought I should try it, but the thing is I'm no good at translating, let alone translating simultaneously into several languages! I'd have to work really hard for that, and there are more and more people who speak many languages so I'm not sure how easy it would be to get a job.

I saw a video on yahoo recently about a man who was in his 20s I think, and he speaks 11 languages. Imagine being able to speak so many languages!
It would be AWESOME!!!!!!!
I set myself a goal: to speak 5 languages fluently before I'm 20. I don't know how easy this will be.. I mean I'm 16 now and I speak English, French and Japanese. However, my level in all of these languages is well.. very low! I went to school in English until I was 11 and then had to learn French and just when I was getting the hang of it I went and decided to go to Japan for a year! Which improved my Japanese a lot but didn't help with my English and French. Or my German..

At the moment I'm learning Spanish and not doing too well. I'm also studying German for my exams.

So if you count all the languages I'm studying or have been studying, it makes 5! I just have to become fluent in all of them. Easier said than done :P

This is getting really long.. and I've forgotten the whole point of this post.

Mleh.

I'll continue in another post I think ^^'

Nao
